DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF BUOY AND SUITABILITY TO WATER CONDITIONS

Abstract

Buoys installed in the sea will be affected by environmental factors including wind speed and wave height. This study aims to make proposals for improving the buoy design that has been developed by the Department of Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University and analyze the suitability of oceanographic conditions of wind speed and wave height where the buoy is installed. Marine environmental data collection by downloading from the AVISO website was carried out in March-May 2009 and data collection of the buoy heeling period on August 27, 2009 in the Seribu Islands. The data obtained were processed using Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD 2007. From the results of the buoy design with 2-dimensional drawings, several buoy shapes will be seen, including buoys with side views and top views. From the results of the buoy design that is close to symmetry, it can be said to be good and for the proposed buoy design is sufficient. The waters in the Seribu Islands include waters that have wind speeds ranging from 4.3 to 5.5 m/s and have an average wave height of 0.78 meters. From the results of wind speed and wave height measurements in the Seribu Islands, the wind speed in the West season in 2005-2009 was obtained with an average of 4.3 m/s, in the West-East transition season with an average of 3.3 m/s, in the East season an average of 5.5 m/s and in the East-West transition season an average of 5.1 m/s. The wave height obtained in the West season in 2005-2009 in the Seribu Islands was an average of 0.8 meters, in the West-East transition season with an average of 0.6 meters, in the East season with an average of 0.8 meters and in the East-West transition season with an average of 0.8 meters. The results of the buoy movement dynamics analysis produced a rolling movement with an average buoy heel angle (T0) of 4.85 seconds with a buoy center of gravity of 0.088 m. The rolling simulation results showed quite good results with T0 approaching 1 wave period. Simulation results of buoy movement in real sea conditions (irregular waves) using several wave types (2 m, 3 m, 4 m, and 5 m) show that the higher the waves in the real sea, the smaller the number of wave periods that impact the buoy. Similarly, the buoy's rolling period decreases from 80 to 1.50. The buoy simulation results can be seen in the buoy animation test. Testing with several marine environmental parameters, such as wave height and wind speed, showed good rolling results. The results of the seeker application showed that the buoy tended to follow the wind and wave direction and had fairly good maneuverability (return moment).
